Cops will be cops: "walked suspiciously towards police"

This one joins a great library of cop-outs:

A police officer at the entrance to the Western Wall fired warning shots earlier Wednesday towards the legs of a woman who was dressed in blankets and black clothes. The shots were fired after the woman approached the officer and ignored calls to stay away.
I wonder what would have happened if a cop were lurking nearby when this was filmed:

Jesse Ventura and my Schadenfreude

That vermin won a lawsuit - against the widow of his alleged offender - the late Chris Kyle. About a regular man it might have been said that he has fallen to a new low. Since Mr Ventura is wallowing in the gutters for too many years, that statement just wouldn't work.

But there is a silver lining to this smelly cloud, according to the vermin himself:

“I’m already damaged,” he said. “I can’t go to a SEAL reunion anymore. That was the one place where I always felt safe. I can’t go there anymore without looking over my shoulder now wondering who is going to come after me next.”
That's the spirit, SEALS, and keep going after him.

P.S. If Ventura imagined that suing Chris Kyle's "estate" is going to endear him with SEALS, he must be a greater idiot than I have imagined.

Asymmetries and proportionalities

Indeed, widely different numbers of civilian casualties between two sides in a conflict says nothing about the proportionality of particular attacks on specific targets. News reports of civilians killed or wounded in the course of combat in Gaza tell us of tragedy and loss. They tell us of the horrors of urban warfare and the challenges of fighting against a terrorist group bent on using the civilian population as a shield for its operatives, rocket launchers and weapons caches. They tell us that we must be more vigilant in condemning and holding accountable those who exploit civilians for tactical and strategic advantage. They tell us that commanders launching attacks must fulfill all obligations to minimize civilian harm and be held accountable when they do not. But numbers of casualties alone do not provide answers about proportionality or legality — you need both law and all the facts, not just numbers, to do that.
This is the last paragraph of an interesting article. Recommended.

More rockets at UNWRA place? Guess what...

The story is getting somewhat boring by now:

The United Nations agency that looks after Palestinian refugees said on Tuesday it had found a cache of rockets at one of its schools in the Gaza Strip and deplored those who had put them there.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesman Chris Gunness condemned those responsible for placing civilians in harm's way by storing the rockets at the school but he did not specifically blame any particular party.
Frankly, I don't blame Mr Gunness or his colleagues from UNRWA for being unable to name the party involved.
After all, when a person is dressed like this, it's difficult to name him/them.

Anyway, there is somebody to blame for the rockets staying where they are:
Gunness said the body had called in a U.N munitions expert to dispose of the rockets and make the school premises safe, and added that he could not get to the site due to fighting in the area.
You know what it means...

BadBlue News

Like you, I spend a lot of time trying to keep up-to-date on the hottest significant news stories. Since we free-thinking folks have to largely bypass vintage media, which have largely become a public relations arm of the Obama administration, it isn’t easy to do. There are thousands of great sites out there, any of which can have a noteworthy news story.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time to check thousands of websites for breaking news.
Yes, there are some great aggregators out there: Drudge, Twitchy, etc. But all of them rely upon human editors and, most importantly, don’t give smaller blogs and websites much of their attention.

That’s why we created BadBlue News. It’s a very different type of news aggregator because it uses machine learning and automation to achieve massive scalability in assessing news sources and breaking stories. Here’s how it’s different:
1. It uses social network buzz, not a set of human editors, to determine how important a story is.
2. It levels the playing field for smaller websites and blogs by taking into account traffic patterns; that is, a story on a small blog with 15 retweets might be equivalent to a story on Fox News with 1,000 retweets. The traffic patterns and social buzz are both factored in by BadBlue to offer a much wider range of news coverage than any other aggregator.
3. It never sleeps: BadBlue runs 24×7 and never relies upon human editors making decisions.
BadBlue is growing quickly. From September 2013 to January 2014, page views grew by 20 percent, with Google Analytics reporting the average time onsite is a startling 31 minutes!

In this election year, BadBlue can play an important role for advancing the conservative agenda by cutting through the media censors and offering a level playing field for websites and blogs of all sizes.

I’d love for you to come visit and, if you like it, to tell your friends, tweet about it, or like it on Facebook.
2014 will be a big year for liberty and I believe getting the word out on uncensored news stories — bypassing the state-run media — will be critical.

River In China Turns Bloody Red Overnight, Zionists deny involvement

Check this out:
Inspectors from the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau said they have not found the cause of the incident, although water samples seem to indicate the suspicious color was a result of illegal dumping in the river.
A spokesperson for the Elders' HQ stated:
  • This natural phenomenon has nothing to do with the alleged predilection of certain people to consume food items that include human (gentile, for preference) blood.
  • There are definitely no grounds for the malicious rumor about the said people cleaning up their blood reservoirs once a year in preparation for intake of freshly collected gentiles' blood.
  • The author of the Facebook post that promoted the theory about a malfunctioning valve that caused the blood from the said (non-existing) reservoir to spill into the Elders' underground network of waterways, crisscrossing the whole world to enable the movement of Elders' six foot lizards, was located and punished.
  • The so called "map" of the said waterways, attached to the Facebook posting, appears to be in fact the map of Schiaparelli canals on Mars.
  • The promotion of the inspector from the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau to the post of Inspector-General of Wenzhou Environmental Protection has nothing to do with traces of blood or any other such nonsense.
So there.

Keep tweeting, Ayatollah Khamenei, just keep it up

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei admitted to providing support for Hamas in Gaza, in a series of hateful tweets against Israel on Sunday and Monday.
Nice to know, so what else is new? Oh, possibly this:
The Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country in which a consensus on the Palestinian issue exists between the regime and its people. Together with popular support for the Palestinian fighters, the [Iranian] regime also provides important aid to the Palestinian fighters, including military weaponry… This measure by the Islamic Republic – arming the Palestinian groups – is carried out publicly, and not in secret, and has even been publicly emphasized by the leader [Khamenei]
Nah, that's fairly old stuff too.

Slow day or something?

28 July 2014

He came, he saw, he muddled.

This is not bad, not bad at all.

Oh - and this is crap, pure undiluted crap.

Ruminations of a male chauvinist pig (or Left, Right, Left, Right...)

Mira Bar Hillel, an ex-Israeli lady that resides in UK for the last 40 years or so, earning her wages by publishing piss-poor anti-Israeli crap in rags like Intependent and Guardian, went public with a scary advance notice to the people of Israel:

Why I'm on the brink of burning my Israeli passport

So what is the reason Ms Bar Hillel provides for this fateful decision? Here it is, in the lede:

I can no longer stand by while Israeli politicians like Ayelet Shaked condone the deaths of innocent Palestinian women and children

Continued with the following harangue:
She is young. She is pretty. She is a university graduate and a computer engineer. She is also an Israeli Parliamentarian - and the reason why I am on the brink of burning my Israeli passport. Because behind that wide-eyed innocent face lurks the Angel of Death.
Pompous, envious and, most important, dumb, like the rest of this piece. Dumb like many other similar pieces authored by her (you can easily find them on the intertubes).

As for Ms Shaked: I am not sure that she condones the deaths in terms Ms Bar Hillel ascribes to her, but I did learn one thing about the lady: she is unpardonably stupid. So stupid that even our august parliamentary body (that has its share of IQ-challenged ladies and gentlemen), got hit hard, as far as its average IQ* is concerned, with addition of Ms Shaked.

Now I am in a quandary here. One is supposed to take sides in such debate, but how does a man choose between exceedingly dumb and extraordinarily stupid? So, like any male in my position (and you know what it is that men think about most of the time, don't you?), I fell back to visual aids:

Mira Bar Hillel
Ayelet Shaked
So, after some more ruminations, I think I have a decision.

Go ahead, Ms Bar Hillel, burn the darn passport! You don't really need or want it anyhow, do you? I know we all here will suffer the consequences, but I hope it is not terminal.

Oh, and ladies: pox on both your houses, if I am allowed to express a wish.

(*) I wonder, shouldn't we replace the IQ measure for all politicians with SQ?

P.S. and a short historical reference.

And a few replacements of that burned already (I hope) passport:

Lisa Goldman and the art of clipped narrative

History is an account, mostly false, of events, mostly unimportant, which are brought about by rulers, mostly knaves, and soldiers, mostly fools.

Ambrose Bierce
It is absolutely normal for two persons to disagree about politics. For two Jews it is absolutely normal to have four contrary opinions on one subject and argue all four vehemently, foaming at the mouth not excluded. However, there is one element of the debate that should be preserved intact: the factual base (the history, if you will) the debate is about. When one side of the debate starts manipulation of the facts, there is no knowing where it will end.

I have already described some differences of opinion on various subjects I have with Lisa Goldman. Mostly on interpretation of events, some wildly "creative", but not on the substance of the facts the creativity is based upon.

The latest opinion piece by Lisa in Globe and Mail The Gaza war has done terrible things to Israeli society is a troubling example of such manipulation - an artful clipping of a narrative that not only changes the tone of the story but impacts our ability to adjudge its protagonists. Here comes a list of the relevant elements of the latest Gaza war story (I will omit, for example, the decision by the writer Sayed Kashua to leave Israel for greener pastures), as recorded in this article. I shall also withhold my personal opinion of the whole for now, leaving it for somewhere down the post, if at all:
  1. Mobs of hyper nationalist youth rampaged through Israel, the rampage culminating in the abduction and horrific murder of a 17 year-old Palestinian boy, Mohammed Abu Khdeir, from East Jerusalem.
  2. This orgy of internecine violence was sparked by the mid-June abduction of three Jewish teenage boys – Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaer and and Eyal Yifrah – who were hitchhiking in the West Bank. (1)
  3. Violent demonstration on both sides of the divide ensued. The rage spread to the Galilee and other regions of the country. (2)
  4. ...oops, something is missing here, methinks.
  5. "And then the Israeli military announced its third military assault on Gaza in less than six years. The purpose of the operation, announced the government, was to destroy Hamas’s military capacity..." etc.
If you read the above narrative, without noticing that missing item #4, it becomes quite clear what happened: Israeli government decided to avenge the death of three Jewish boys by a bloodbath in Gaza - isn't it straight and simple?

Yes, as clear as the fact that a cop shot a criminal without a reason (if you didn't know that the criminal shot at the cop first).
As clear as the fact that Israel increased its territory allocated to it by UN in 1948 by going to war with its neighbors  (if you are unaware of the fact that it is Arabs who initiated the war in the first place).
As clear as the fact that Israel easily won the 1967 Six-Day War by dastardly attacking its neighbors first (if you weren't told that Egypt blocked the Straits of Tiran quite some time before the war started, practically and legally declaring war on Israel).

Etc. And all that because the author of the article omitted one (item 4) vital pertinent fact: that Hamas switched from the usual daily drizzle of Qassams (3) to a massive bombardment immediately after the (horrific, indeed) murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir(4). Which bombardment continued for several days before IDF made some serious steps toward entering the war. A person (even living as far as New York) who is interested in goings-on in our neck of the woods and didn't see the pictures of our soldiers cooling their feet near the border day after day, waiting for the command, must be really detached...

So that's it for the main point on our menu. Now for clarifications and a general response to that article.

(1) Interestingly, Lisa has chosen to start the narrative of the events preceding the war from the murder of the Arab boy, which chronologically follows that of the three Jewish boys. In literature flashbacks are a useful tool sometimes, in history lessons - I wonder about the purpose of it. I don't wonder about the effect on the reader, though.

(2) For some reason there is no reference to the gruesome fact that during the violent events mentioned, the Israeli Arab "protesters" (e.g. in the Arab "corridor" of Wadi Ara) stopped the passing cars, asked whether the passengers/driver are Jewish and in case of a positive answer beat the passengers and burned cars.

(3) How many rockets, launched at Israel per day, should be considered normal? Just asking...

(4) Doesn't the author feel that there was a lack of proportion between Israeli citizens' response to the murder of three Jewish boys and Palestinian citizens' response to the murder of Arab boy?

And now to the main thread of the article, which is aptly covered by its headline, to remind you: "The Gaza war has done terrible things to Israeli society".

Sorry, the headline is false and misleading - no less than the omission of a pivotal fact described above. It is not just the Gaza war (which one is meant, by the way? - go figure) that has done these terrible things to our society. It is the long line of events following the Oslo accords - the two Intifadas, the incessant lies and double tongue of late Yasser, the events that followed our "disengagement" from Gaza, the ascendance of Hamas with its (really) genocidal charter, the incessant rockets. As one of the former Israeli left, who waved the flag and cheered the peacemakers of Oslo, who applauded Sharon, the implacable warrior who decided to give Gaza its independence, I vouch for the total falsity of this headline, and so will thousands (nay, hundreds of thousands) of other Israelis, our hopes crushed to hell by this period. If the "let's all just get along" left has been decimated in Israel, it is not because of some mysterious ascendance of the diabolical right wing, but mostly because of disillusion and loss of faith.

On emotional level, here is what counts, and it is said by a better man (with all due respect) than Sayed Kashua - David Grossman:
Today, in an Israel that has known so much disappointment, hope (if ever mentioned at all) is always hesitant, a bit timid, and apologetic. Despair, on the other hand, is utterly confident and self-assured, as if speaking on behalf of a law of nature, an axiom that states that between these two peoples there shall never be peace, that the war between them is a heavenly decree, and that altogether, it will always be bad here, nothing but bad. As despair sees it, anyone who still hopes, who still believes in the possibility of peace, is at best naïve, or a deluded dreamer, and at worst, a traitor who weakens Israel’s wherewithal by encouraging it to be seduced by false visions.
And now to more logical arguments from another good man, who, accidentally, is not a  right-winger: Jonathan Zausmer's article To my friends on the left (truth is sometimes a bitter pill):
There is no easy way forward. The conflict is greater, deeper and more problematic than the previous operations in Gaza. Resilience is the word. Israel has all the means to create a changed reality but at this early time, the other side has generated initiative. Things will change but there is no place for a gentleman’s draw. If and when Hamas is demilitarized or the rocket capability eviscerated, options for meaningful negotiation may follow. So for those of you my friends on the left, who are leaning back on familiar formulas, please find a place in front of the herd, not behind it. After this conflict a lot of creative thinking will be needed to move peace onto the urgent agenda of our national priorities.
I don't know whether I shall live to see that which is mentioned in the last sentence. I wish to, though...

And the last remark: one of the things that bothers the Western lefties is the current Israeli consensus. Especially the point about Bibi's sky-high poll numbers. Well, tell you what, my leftie friends: the greater Tel-Aviv area, which is a place where half (or more?) of our country, including about 80% of the country's lefties (rough guesstimate) wasn't a target of Hamas rocket scientists. Until now.

Capisce?

P.S. And here is a typical result of the clipped narrative of the kind described in this post:

Open letter to all the evildoers: time to shit or to get off the pot

It's all about the goblin - for lovers of fantasy

A goblin is a legendary evil or mischievous creature, a grotesquely evil or evil-like phantom.

The author of this fantasy is Petr Borisovich Mordkovich, an author and an Israeli citizen. For reasons unnecessary to explain, he writes in Russian. He keeps a blog under pseudonim Bormor.

The fairy tale is butchered translated using Google Translate with some assistance from yours truly.

A word of caution: don't start reading if you don't intend to get to the end of the story, since the lesson (every fairy tale has a lesson, you know) is in the last sentence. So:

***

- The ad says that you have a quest to offer - half-elf said to the Burgomeister, - But it doesn't explain the essence of the quest. Could you clarify?
- Well, everything is simple - the Burgomeister shrugged . - Do you see that hill? There is a goblin there with a mortar. And he shells the city periodically. That's the whole problem.
- Yeah, of course, I see. So we have to kill the goblin ...
- What you are saying, no, G_d forbid!? - Burgomeister waved his arms in panic. - In no case could the goblin be killed!
- Why? - the Dwarf asked, surprised. - It's just a goblin!
- That's it exactly! If we kill him, the world community will say that it is genocide, and that we are racists...
- So what? Let the world community say what it wants.
- And send troops - grimly added Burgomeister.
- Hmm ... thought the half-elf aloud. - You mean, this motherfucker is shooting at you from a grenade launcher, and you suffer and do not dare to fight back?
- We don't dare - shrugged Burgomeister. - Otherwise, we'll be called aggressors.
- Well, and if, for example, instead of killing the goblin, you drive him away somewhere far enough?
- From his hill? Impossible. They will call us occupiers.
- Catch him and take away the launcher?
- Robbers.
- Lock him up with his mortar? .. Okay, okay, do not answer, - half-elf added quickly when Burgomeister opened his mouth. - I get it. Indeed, an interesting case.
- Well, what do you want from us? - Princess broke into the conversation. - You can't kill, can't disarm, to catch or to chase impossible too, so what is left? Re-education? It is not our profile.
- No, of course not... For re-education to work we would have called a psychologist. But, by the way, then the world community would blame us in applying psychological pressure.
- And desecrating indigenous traditions - added Gnome, shaking his head. - Shooting at humans from a grenade launcher - it's goblins' holy and sacred tradition!
- That's it - happily exclaimed Burgomeister - now you see what I mean.
- Well, so what is required by the quest then? - The Princess barged in again.
- Deliver the parcel - Burgomeister sighed.
- To whom? To the Goblin?
- Well, yes. For there, on the hill, there are no food reserves. So about an hour from now, the goblin will get hungry, declare a truce and begin negotiations. He does so every day. Demands that he be brought food, wine, weapons, sometimes other things... And then, when he feels full, he declares that the peace talks have stalled and he was forced to resume fire. World public opinion is very sympathetic to him. The world community believes he is a goblin of principle.
- And if you refuse to provide him with food and weapons...
- Then the world community will...
- Okay, okay, we see - waved his hands half-elf.
- ... and send troops - Burgomeister mumbled.
- Fine, but why do you need us? Why don't you send one of yours to carry that bag?
- We've sent ours already. Nobody returned.
- What, the goblin killed them all?
- He claims that he hadn't.
- Oh...
- And the world community believes him.
- Ah...
- And they say that we are provocateurs. You see, apparently he, the goblin, comes up with these peace initiatives, it is his gesture of goodwill. And if something goes wrong, it is only our fault. It is obvious! And you are... well, sort of like outsiders, he can't touch you.
- Well, - summed up the half-elf. - If we discard the political crapola, all we are required to do is to pick up the package at the customer's premises and take it to the addressee, right? A normal postal quest. But everything else is your problem. Correct?
- That's right - confirmed Burgomeister - so it's okay, then?
- It's a deal - half-elf nodded. Burgomeister breathed a sigh of relief.
- Can I ask a question? - The Princess raised her hand. - Here you are, so afraid that the world community will call you aggressors or warlords or even worse than that - So how do they call you now?
- Idiots - replied the Burgomeister sadly.

Is Hamas using human shields in Gaza? The CNN answer is "complicated"

The headline of CNN's mumbling and stumbling article is Is Hamas using human shields in Gaza? The answer is complicated.

Here is what Jeff Dunetz aka Yid with Lid compiled (not being a highfalutin CNN guru):

So You Want Proof Hamas Uses Civilians As Human Shields? Here Are Ten Examples.

Check it out.

And watch this too:

And look at this, if time allows:

Still complicated, CNN?

P.S. But yes, there are some difficulties with truthful reporting of such activity from Gaza.

Hillel Neuer of UN Watch busting Syria's scumbags in UNHRC

Just a part of the remarkable speech and a remarkable exchange of opinions:

Syria: We’re used to hearing this NGO creating divisions among the speakers, and speaking out of turn. It is strange to hear an NGO defending the killing of women and children, and the destruction of infrastructure in Palestine. I would hope that the speaker is no longer allowed to continue his statement.

President: I give the floor back to UN Watch.

UN Watch: Thank you, Mr. President. Let the world note: that in a session purportedly on Palestinian human rights, the government of Syria objected to us mentioning the 1800 Palestinians that they starved and murdered.

Londoners State that Bibi is Right

Good to know it's A-OK to walk around in the glorious city of London with a placard stating that Hitler was right.

Supporting Israel, on the other hand, can land you in a hospital: "A pro-Israel demonstrator at a rally in central London was knocked unconscious by a group of assailants who were part of a counter-protest."

One thing I don't get... If Hitler was right and Bibi is Hitler, does that make Bibi right as well?

Scientists baffled by gigantic 262ft hole - Hamas officially denies involvement

While the scientists, as their custom, remain baffled and Hamas denies any link to the whole, the word of mouth is that their digging team got lost, losing in addition their link to the Hamas HQ under the Gaza City main hospital. The team decided to blow themselves up, when it became clear they are digging through permafrost.

One mystery less.

A clarification of Khaled Mashal's rejection of ceasefire

Khaled Mashal, the underassassinated Hamas mouthpiece that resides in a plushy residence in Qatar, continues to play with lives of his brethren. Which is not unexpected.

There remains one unclear point in his rhetoric:

"No one will break the resistance with Allah's help. Under the table they talk about disarming the resistance of its weapons. No one can disarm the resistance with Allah's help."
I am not at all sure that the IDF general staff (or government for that matter) appealed or intends to appeal at any point in time for Allah's help. Just wondering.

Oh, and one other point:
“Our victims are civilians and theirs are soldiers,” he charged. “We are the victims, despite our steadfastness.”
Sure, sure.

The Doctrine of Proportionality... oh, and unsportsmanlike behavior

This article, The Doctrine of Proportionality, while not bringing any essentially new information, places the dots nicely over some undotted letters. It bears repeating:
Proportionality in international law is not about equality of death or civilian suffering, or even about [equality of] firepower. Proportionality weighs the necessity of a military action against suffering that the action might cause to enemy civilians in the vicinity.

"Under international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute, the death of civilians during an armed conflict, no matter how grave and regrettable does not constitute a war crime.... even when it is known that some civilian deaths or injuries will occur. A crime occurs if there is an intentional attack directed against civilians (principle of distinction) or an attack is launched on a military objective in the knowledge that the incidental civilian injuries would be clearly excessive in relation to the anticipated military advantage (principle of proportionality)." — Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Chief Prosecutor, International Criminal Court.

"The greater the military advantage anticipated, the larger the amount of collateral damage -- often civilian casualties -- which will be "justified" and "necessary." — Dr. Françoise Hampton, University of Essex, UK.
Not being a lawyer, I dare say that even I could figure out the quoted text. Moreover, I believe that even an idiot could.

Speaking about idiots, the article mentioned a special case, that of one Anshel Pfeffer of Haaretz, already referred to on these here pages. The mention sent me scrambling for his article The Gazan in a bunker trying to kill me. Indeed, as it happens, Mr Pfeffer has some original things to say about the Iron Dome:
There is something so unsportsmanlike about the Iron Dome missile shield. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a technological marvel.
Yes, marvel, but and unsportsmanlike one, and here is why:
Just imagine, at the World Cup final in Estadio Maracana on Sunday, if Germany, with its superior economy and industry, were to replace Manuel Neuer with a bionic goalkeeper: infrared sensors for eyes and a supercomputer for a brain, capable of calculating where each Argentine ball will come from, the exact position to stand in and amount of force needed to block it. I doubt even the corrupt grandees of FIFA would allow Germany’s uber-goalie to take the field.
And the ending of the passage is especially poignant:
But while Israel remains crap at soccer and can only dream of ever reaching the World Cup, on the modern battlefield it is a bionic Germany.
Yes, you might say, it was a tongue-in-cheek text - somewhat. But, with all due respect, and I don't have any respect remaining for Haaretz, the "Paper for Thinking People", this stinks.

So, if I happen to meet dear Anshel, who is much younger and stronger than I am, I am going to tell him about all my maladies and infirmities, to let him understand the real balance of power between us. And then I am gonna lay into him...

See how sportsmanlike he behaves in such a situation.

More certainty, please, Hon David Ward, MP!

I believe that a high flying politician should be assertive - above all. Unlike in this hesitant uttering:

Especially on Twitter that enforces assertiveness by the 140 limitation. Here is an example of how it should be done, gratis, too:

If I had me a spare rocket, I would definitely stick it up MP David Ward's arse and light the fuse.

See what I mean?

P.S. There wasn't room enough for "Hon", apologies extended to all my British friends.

Now about these harmless rockets

So far the best response to the foreign airlines quitting Ben Gurion airport:

I really don't understand the international community... Why not let your airplanes fly to Israel? You have been telling us all this time the rockets that Hamas fire are harmless and not to get so worked up... Oh... They're firing them at you now so they are dangerous... Oh, oh I see.

About these Gaza tunnels and other humanitarian and financial enterprises by Hamas

While IDF is rooting out the Hamas tunnels, it might be worth your time to check some tunnel - related facts. First of all, watch this Al Jaz clip:

Now that you know where the building materials Gaza is pining for really go, think about the other angle of the relentless hate - inspired "creative" activity: the finances. It is estimated that every such tunnel costs about half a million dollars to construct. Keeping in mind the unending wailing of the Western bleeding hearts about the dire economic situation in Gaza, this may provide some food for thought, you have to agree. As could this bit of graphics:

But if you, as I am, are not financially savvy, think about a humanitarian aspect of these tunnels. It is by now established that the neighborhoods of Gaza City are infested by these tunnels, and entry/exit points are numerous and well appointed affairs, as are the tunnels you have seen in that clip. Have you asked yourself, why, in the midst of the intense firefights that cause so many civilian* deaths, Hamas leaders are not offering the tunnels as protection for simple citizens?

Part of the answer could be found in a WaPo article (but read it all afterwards), where the author describes the three types of tunnels:
Another set of tunnels reportedly services the Hamas high command. “Every single leader of Hamas, from its lowest ranking bureaucrats to its most senior leaders, is intimately familiar with the route to the security tunnel assigned to him and his family,” al-Monitor reported. “The most senior leadership has its own specific tunnel.”
Yes indeed. If a Hamas' mandarin and his family have to use a tunnel and it happens to be clogged by simple mortals - no, it simply wouldn't do, would it?

Not only don't Hamas ogres care about their people, they want them to die:
On July 16, 2014, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued a report stating: “the Israeli military delivered text messages to virtually all the residents of Ash Shuja’iyya and Az Zaitun neighborhoods in eastern Gaza city, approximately 100,000 people, warning them to leave their homes by 8 am today (16 July), ahead of attacks to be launched in the area.” The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also made phone calls and distributed leaflets.

OCHA then describes what came next: “Subsequently, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza reportedly instructed the residents to…not flee the area.” As a result, OCHA admits: “the vast majority decided to stay.”

(*) When talking about civilians in Gaza, always keep this in mind.

Update: some more information about costs and other implications of the tunnels.

Victor Topaller, "MASPIK"

There is a word in Hebrew: "Maspik.” Enough. No more. People can’t take any more of this: no more releasing killers from jail, murderers who walk free and continue killing. No more looking into the gloating snouts of the happy brutes, no more watching that filthy riffraff triumphantly wave the bleeding bowels of torn apart Israelis; enough looking at general festivities in celebration of the murder of the three boys ... Shouldn’t there be some limit to all this?!
Now I shall leave you alone to allow you to read the whole article in peace.

And now to our own (Israeli) garbage

Take a look at this, please:

This is not a result of close encounter with a Gazan rocket, nor is it a consequence of domestic violence. But I'll let the victim, Meytal Sella, tell her own story:
My "Hasbara" results - a knee, an elbow and cheek sore and a rib questionable.

I have passed near a demonstration of the radical left on the way home (incidentally, I do not agree with them) and I heard calls of "death [to the lefties] and other evil slogans, and it hurt. All I wanted was to explain that the Zionist left supports our soldiers, doesn't calls our pilots killers and wants to get rid of Hamas, but is against violence. So - I wanted. They wanted to muzzle me at any price. Well, at least I understand now how Rihanna and Whitney felt...
I am not sure I share Meytal's politics, not being acquainted with her, but it doesn't matter. Because I think I known very well the kind of vermin who are able to do what was done to Meytal.
  • The kind of garbage that runs amok in the street after every terrorist act or after a rumor of one, hollering in their mindless frenzy "Death to Arabs" and attacking helpless and unprotected workers in shops, if they look even vaguely Arabic.
  • The kind of garbage that provides fertile ground for inhuman murderers of the kind that recently burned alive an Arab boy.
  • The kind that spews racist slogans at slightest provocation and without one.
  • The kind that hardly ever serves in the army, being usually exempt for various reasons I wouldn't go into - better leave it to reader's imagination.
  • The kind that will faint seeing a real armed Hamas terrorist or the shadow of thereof.
Believe you me, we need your kind right now like we need a cholera outbreak. And if you want to fight someone, just ask for it, and maybe, just maybe, our CoS will find a way to ship you over to Gaza City - to fend for your own repulsive self.

As a side issue, and just out of interest - tell me how are you different from this character:

Pox on your house...

Nasrallah to Mashaal: Willing to cooperate with you in your struggle

This is all the news says, leaving me thirsty for details. Nasrallah from his bunker calling Mashaal in Qatar. So who will come to whom to cooperate? Nasrallah to Qatar or Mashaal to bunker?

Hmm... I am confused.

New York Times: All The News Hamas Sees Fit to Print

Maybe all of this is an illustration of just how biased against Israel the Times has become—so biased that Times photographers and editors are simply blind to any image that doesn’t conform to their view of the war.

Or maybe, in the interest of the safety and access of their journalists, the Times is complying with Hamas instructions.

It would appear that Hamas’s media instructions have been heard loud and clear at the New York Times, and the response is obedience. But the Times also isn't bothering to inform its readers that the images they’re seeing of Gaza are only the ones Hamas wants them to see. It’s time for the Times to tell its readers exactly why they are being presented with such a distorted picture of this war.
Yeah, whatever. Read it all.

As for Times telling us why - good luck with that.

Jon Donnison of BBC, journalistic integrity, whatever

First of all, an important disclaimer: right now, people of Gaza are dying in reality, among them women and children, to provide Hamas masters their revolting propaganda feed. It is impossible to remain apathetic to their suffering.

But then there is suffering and there is media, and... but it's better to see that than to read that (but you should do both).

A BBC war reporter made a shocking blunder by tweeting a photograph of an injured child from Syria but indicating she was from Gaza.
So, folks, what you shall see immediately is not Gaza:

This, on the other hand, is Gaza (but not right now, rather during earlier, happy and peaceful times):

So there.

Who really shot down MH17 aka MH370? It takes only two Jews.

Even during these troubled days there is a time and a place for a few good laughs, especially if they are provided gratis by an eager standup comedian. This time the fun is provided by a guy named Jim Stone, who nurtures a site "Jim Stone, freelance journalist". Unfortunately, I haven't yet figured out a way to link directly to the desired text on this site, so you will have to do some creative searching to get to the quotes I use.

Strong emperical evidence Israel shot down plane

(Original spelling kept faithfully). Here is the reasoning (unbeatable, if you ask me):
Plane shoot down: approximately 14:15 UTC. Israeli assault on Gaza: 14:00 UTC. See a connection there? And when you consider the fact that it took time to confirm the downing, the two times actually match even more closely. Israel's assault on Gaza is viewed badly by the world community, what better way to bury it in the news than a plane shoot down, complete with the threat of a war with Russia?
And the next statement clinches the whole deal for me:
And even if Russian forces did do this, it only takes a couple Jews among them to cause something like this.
The easiness with which the most secret illicit activities of the Elders are outed leaves me open-mouthed and slack jawed.

But this is far from being all. Our buddy Jim has dug deeper, and here is the pure gold he came up with:

MH17 all but completely proven to be flight 370
From the Washington Times:

"MOSCOW — A top pro-Russia rebel commander in eastern Ukraine has given a bizarre version of events surrounding the Malaysian jetliner crash — suggesting many of the victims may have died days before the plane took off. The pro-rebel website Russkaya Vesna on Friday quoted Igor Girkin as saying he was told by people at the crash site that “a significant number of the bodies weren’t fresh,” adding that he was told they were drained of blood and reeked of decomposition."
And this, of course, was a thread that has unraveled the whole enchilada (sorry for mixed metaphor):
This strongly supports MH370 as being the real shoot down plane, with all passengers dead long before and probably being taken off of ice and loaded into the plane for final disposal. If a body is already dead before a crash, crash damage will not show up the same way it will with live bodies.
If you had a mad impulse to laugh at that, wait, here comes a totally scientific proof:
A good example of this effect is to take a piece of chicken and throw it in a hot pan for a few seconds. If you remove it from the hot pan within a short time, it will look totally uncooked. Yet if you put your hand on that hot pan for even half a second, it will be badly burned, and show it. Live flesh shows injury easily because of the way living cells respond to injury. If the bodies were dead for days and possibly loaded onto the plane well chilled it would explain a lot about their relatively undamaged appearance in the wreckage.
(After reading this, I am currently looking for an angle to implicate KFC in the whole shebang, but it is a slow process. We shall see). Now a final revelation that will help us all to connect the dots:
And speaking about false flags, remember that Flight 370 clone in Tel Aviv? and do not forget about the 777 that was stopped by the Dutch from crashing the nuclear summit right after flight 370 vanished, as this web site predicted was likely to happen.
So now, after all the necessary dots were placed on a map, I can connect all of them for you (with permission obtained from the Elders' HQ, of course).

A crack team of Elders' mind control experts
It started with the Elders stealing the MH370. At the time the only purpose for the operation was to test the newly developed CAMC (Civil Aviation Mind Control) technique. The plane, as Jim helpfully reminds, was stored for a while in Tel Aviv. Of course, the plane was equipped with enough freezers to keep the carcasses fresh and available. Then the plane was used in an aborted attempt to crash (no pan intended) the nuclear party in Amsterdam (Jim again). Since there wasn't anything special on the table at the moment, the plane was kept in Schiphol airport near Amsterdam, under the famous Mossad invisibility cloak, for a rainy day. And eventually the day came. Unfortunately, the freezing equipment went on the fritz a few days before the operation. There was a big deal of bitter correspondence with the manufacturer about quality control and about the need for express warranty repairs, but you know how it goes with fridge repairs nowadays...

So there, and I shall leave you with a bit of a mystery for your homework, to develop your appetite for solving the Elders' riddles. It comes from Jim too:
Interesting tidbit - Planes first flight was on July 17 1997 and was shot down on the anniversary of TWA flight 800 . . .
So figure it out.

P.S. And if your appetite for mysteries of the kind has already grown enough: just guess who done in the Fukushima Nuclear plant (wink wink, nudge nudge). No cheating, though - click on the link only if you surrendered.

Update: why do some people call us by such complicated names, like in this headline:

Global Elite Take Down Malaysian Airline MH17 to Hide the Cure For Aids? Getting Rid of the Cure to Keep Money in Their Pockets and Continue their Depopulation Agenda…

Global Elite my foot. Compare with this clear and straightforward one (from same post):

Rothschild Takes Down Malaysian Airliner MH370 to Gain Rights to a Semiconductor Patent! Getting Rid of Those Who Stood in His Way!

Now we all know.

Israel draws military volunteers from the UK

Says Muhammed Jamil, Director of Arab Organization for Human Rights (for some reason that sounds as an oxymoron, but I'll let it be for now).
Over 100 British teens have been signed up to fight “shoulder to shoulder” with Israeli forces in brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip, a human rights group warns.

The recruitment of dozens of British citizens to join the ranks of the Israeli military behind the onslaught in Gaza has sparked anger.

The Israeli military has confirmed the presence of over 100 British “lone soldiers” serving 18-month tours of duty in its ranks.
Oh boy, oh boy... I can see where these 100 boys will be a real bother for British MI5 in 18 month, when they are back home, all equipped with explosive belts and raring to have a go at the infidels and the 72... oops, wrong religion...

Hamas says its forces are fighting IDF troops inside Israel

This is the long and the short of this news item. The only thing to say about it: pigs are considered non-kosher by Muslims too, so how come Hamas is ready to launch these flying pigs?

Jewish/Muslim clashes in Paris. POV means: Point Of View

An interesting case of headlines' war is going on right now in the media. I shall start with one that I consider to be more or less neutral (from HuffPost, not the most pro-Israeli or pro-Jewish news outfit):

Violent Clashes Between Pro-Palestine, Jewish Activists As Middle East Crisis Spills Into Europe

A few quotes to explain the background:

A video has emerged showing dozens of Jewish men waving iron bars, chair legs and shooting pepper spray at pro-Palestinian demonstrators in the French capital, while shouting racist slogans, like "Fuck you Palestine".
There is an important point that should be noticed to better understand the situation:
The video emerged in the days after Hamas supporters stormed the Synagogue de la Roquette in Paris, when three Jewish worshipers were taken to hospital, but is believed to have been shot on the same day.

The article offers a video of the fight (also offered by other two sources mentioned below, but with an amazing twist in the last case):

Now to the Israeli source. This headline belongs to Arutz 7 - very, even vehemently pro-Israeli (and pro-Jewish) bunch:

Watch: Jewish Youths Fight Back Against Islamist Mob in Paris

The article offers an explanation (I don't know how true it is):
Video appears to show clashes outside the Don Yitzchak Abarbanel synagogue in Paris, as Muslim extremists attempted to force their way in.
In any case, this information matches what HuffPost says. And here is what a witness, according to Arutz 7, tells about the clash:
She said that the clash on Sunday actually began when the anti-Israel group attempted to storm the Don Yitzchak Abarbanel Synagogue, which at the time was hosting a rabbinical conference. She claimed that police were called but were very slow in responding, and only arrived in sufficient numbers to push back the protesters after the President of the French rabbinate made a direct phone call to French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who then contacted Paris's Chief of Police to dispatch sufficient forces to the synagogue.
Both HuffPost and Arutz 7 acknowledge involvement of the frisky Jewish boys from the French Jewish Defense League - the Ligue de Defense Juive, so that "Fuck you Palestine" (while I am not sure it is a "racist slogan") is explained too.

And now to the British angle: Daily Mail. To start with, the Internet tag assigned to the article (this is when you google for Jewish-Arab clashes in Paris, for example) is mighty interesting:

"Israeli/Palestinian violence in Paris" - how do you like them chickens? OK, when you open the article, the "Israeli/Palestinian" part is corrected to:

Shocking scenes as 150 Jewish men go on rampage in Paris streets and clash with pro-Palestinian demonstrators

The lede of the article is also amazing:
  • About 150 men took to the streets armed with metal bars and sticks
  • None were arrested despite going on the rampage in front of police
  • Six pro-Palestinian demonstrators arrested over synagogue break in
If you checked the clip, you would agree that even if you sum up the participants of the squabble on both sides, the total will hardly come to 150 (other sources say 60 or "several dozens". You would also be hard tasked to find these "metal bars". And how do you reconcile the claim that the clash was with "demonstrators" against that third bullet - about the six "pro-Palestinian demonstrators" arrested for synagogue break-in? Strange, innit?

Now to the clip. Loath to use the Youtube services, as the two previously quoted sources do, Daily Mail has cleaned up the clip and embedded their own version, with own headline (just move the cursor to any point inside the frame to see it). Unsurprisingly, it says (again):

INCREDIBLE FOOTAGE of Israeli/Palestinian violence in Paris

Oh well, but what is so "incredible" and "shocking" in the fact that in Paris (France), where Jews are being attacked in the streets almost on daily basis, 60 hotheaded Jewish boys decided to prevent the "pro-Palestinian demonstrators" from trashing a synagogue and the people inside, like they have done just the day before?

Isn't it telling that the author(s) of the article is/are being shocked and surprised by the fact that some Jews are not being ready to serve as complacent punchbags for some enraged Muslim hooligans?

You tell me...

And I warmly recommend that  you read all three articles for comparison.

And then, just to see it through the eyes of a witness, read this.

And more facts the Daily Mail omitted (or missed).

Ben-Dror Yemini: let's have some proportion, really

Proportion, we are told. Proportion. So let's talk about proportion. Forget about Dresden, where the Allies' bombings left tens of thousands of people dead within three days. About 10,000 dead a day. Let's take a look at a slightly closer little war.
Sit yourself comfortably and enjoy (or not, as the case might be).

Hasbara done just right: Hamas Interior Ministry To Social Media Activists

This is a great compilation of rules that any self-respecting propaganda outfit should follow. A few gems:

  • Anyone killed or martyred is to be called a civilian from Gaza or Palestine, before we talk about his status in jihad or his military rank. Don't forget to always add 'innocent civilian' or 'innocent citizen' in your description of those killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
  • Begin [your reports of] news of resistance actions with the phrase 'In response to the cruel Israeli attack,' and conclude with the phrase 'This many people have been martyred since Israel launched its aggression against Gaza.'
  • Avoid publishing pictures of rockets fired into Israel from [Gaza] city centers. This [would] provide a pretext for attacking residential areas in the Gaza Strip. Do not publish or share photos or video clips showing rocket launching sites or the movement of resistance [forces] in Gaza.
  • Avoid entering into a political argument with a Westerner aimed at convincing him that the Holocaust is a lie and deceit; instead, equate it with Israel's crimes against Palestinian civilians.
Etc.

Sounds familiar?
