This is an amazing story of a treasure almost thrown away.Hat tip: E.S.
Very nice. Life does look harder in black-n-white and, somehow, easier in color. Works that way for the rare color films of World War 2, also. But, then, none of that footage is of war. Blood and gore probably would be more shocking in color.
And red flags, don't forget red flags.
it does make one wander how many things were thrown away
That's the way most of the history goes: into the bin. However, re these specific tapes, I understand that everything survived.
Thank God this film was saved. Seeing things in color (or colour as the British would spell it) when you are use to seeing them in black & white is quite a jolt. Fascinating to remember that people were going about their lives as normal as they could even while events like the War of Independence was going on.
PS: That British Mandate Policeman in kilts was a special bonus.
Yep, I've enjoyed the clip too. Will try to get to the movie, when it comes out.
