A bang, a flash and a dark design

As the European Space Agency unmanned probe Smart-1 slammed into the Moon, providing a lot of nerds on planet Earth some excitement they are usually depraved of, the telescopes caught the flash, saving it for posterity.

Since the scientific value of the bang is closer to nil than ESA would like you to think, the whole shebang could have been performed for sole purpose of childish enjoyment by the bang and the flash.

But ever-suspicious Elders detect an undercurrent here. Some sinister minds are at large, trying to figure out a solution to one of the Earth most acute problems:

Citizens of the Solar system! While it is not too late, let's save the Moon!
Extra Terrestrials of the Universe - unite!
